about the film.

Inspired by an incident from my childhood, BLISTER is a nod to the eternal bond between parent and child.

When I was a year old, my parents accidentally burnt my feet while giving me a bath. Though the incident was innocent, after taking me to the hospital, my parents were accused of abuse and threatened that I’d be taken from them. The rash judgment on the account of not only the hospital, but from members of a more intimate circle as well, originated from a lot of deeply prejudiced motivations. While my parents fought tooth and nail to prevent me from being separated from them, the trauma of that time still plagues their lives today.

BLISTER is a fictionalized retelling of the incident that accumulated from deep conversations with my parents, especially with my mother. Taking the raw emotions of what it feels like to almost lose a child and remapping them onto my own experiences as a young adult, I found a story that conveyed the sacrifices and love that can only be found between parents and their children.
